BBOB V Long Buckby 26/4/09.
BB finished their season on a high with a well worked victory . It was great to see a lot of structure in the game along with some beautiful handling and if we can take our current form on tour we will be able to show the north what we are capable of !
Final score 71-10
Tries :- Matt J (3), Luke(2),Jak P (2),Chuck, Joe,Matt F, Smithy.
Cons :- Smithy 8.
Man of the match :- Pete , for good comunication and defensive work.
BBOB V Bletchley 19/4/09
BB's strong finish to the season continues with a well constructed win over a large Bletchley team.
Excellent play throughout with forwards and backs combining with great results. I was particularly impressed with our forwards who were strong in the scrummage and carried the ball in the loose well , notably Aidy who was obviously rellishing his debut at hooker. This coupled with an agressive backs line both in attack and defence ment that BB's could chalk up their seventh win in a row.
On a dissapointing note it is for the second time that BB have lost their disapline and spoilt what was a good match.
Final score 47-10
Tries :- Aidy(2), Drew(2), Smithy , Matt J , Matt F.
Cons:- Smithy 6
Man of the match :- Perry , excellent workrate.
BBOB V Market Harbrough 5/4/09
BB go marching on with what is turning out to be their best season so far!
With both sides not able to play their usual line up due to player availability , BB adapted better to the changes and put in a cracking performance, spoiled only by an uncharacteristic moment of poor disapline resulting in a yellow card.
A highly entertaining game with beautiful off-loading and passing.
Tries Power(2) Drew(2)Jak p(2) Chuck and Smithy
Conversions (7) Smithy
Man of the match Jak P for consistent high level of play.
BBOB V Bugbrooke 29/3/09.
BB's got off to a quick start for a change ( pity we couldn't manage that last week !) ,and once in front never looked back .
An outstanding performance by the whole team, with some well worked tries and a ferocious defence.
Our only criticism is that we needed to play with more width and put the ball through our hands more often than we did .
Well done lads , you are a credit to your club, team and yourselves.
Final score 74-0
Tries :- Drew 6, Joe 2, Jak P , Matt J, Pete.
Cons :- Smithy 7
Man of the match :- Drew ( thats two jugs you owe us !) Excellent in attack and defence.
BBOB V Daventry 15/03/09
BB's good run of form continued, with a hard fought and hotly contested match against a predominantly u15 Daventry side.
Not allowing themselves to be intimidated BB focoused on their rugby ,which along with a determined defence, enabled them to win the game. The whole squad is to be congratulated for their committment, effort and discipline.
Final score win to BB 19-5
Tries Joe, Drew and Luke
Conversions Smithy 2
Man of the match Matt Finta for continually getting over the gain line
BBOB v Kettering 8/3/09
A smaller than usual squad (17) travelled to Kettering who had a squad of about 30. It looked like a tall order for us, but we went out with the correct attitude, working as a team, with a determination to compete. Myself and Callum were not dissappointed, as we witnessed a superb performance by each and every one of you. Well Done. There were many brilliant individual efforts, but noticably the turning point in the game was a try saving tackle by Matt Joseph which prevented kettering from closing the gap between us.
Tries by Joe(2) Jak P, Chuckie, Matt F
Conversions Smithy 3
Man of the match Smithy, who is turning into a real rugby tactician!
final score BBOB 31 Krfc 22
BBOB V South Leicester 1/3/09
It certainly was a game of two halves, as despite scoring first BB allowed South to take control before the break with three well worked tries, BB were far too slow to get to the breakdown and once there we were not as effective as they should have been.
At halftime BB used their bench to try to improve the breakdown and support play with great sucess, running in five unanswered tries with a good display of handling and silky backs moves.
Thanks to Joe and Aiden for their help in coaching the opposition!
Final score 36-17 Tries by Luke, Chuck(3), Matt J (2) Conversions Smithy(3)
Man of the match Sam for outstanding workrate and support play
BBOB V Rushden
After an unscheduled break in matches, BB put in what was undoubtedly their best performance of the season to date. Well done to everybody for putting into practise techniques learnt in training sessions. The game was a pleasure to watch.Unlike other matches, where our score line has been high, Rushden did still give us a game and continued to put the effort in right up to the final whistle.
Final score BBOB 60 Rushden 0
Tries by Power(2), Drew, Chucky, Finta, Joe, Luke, Jeross and Smithy(2)
Five conversions for Smithy
Man of the match Smithy for good vision and organisation
BBOB v Wellingborough 21/1/09
Once again BB could not play to anywhere near their potential and allowed Wellingboro' an easy ride to play their offloading game to great effect.
Our inability to work together in defence, coupled with a low work rate, ment Wellingboro' repeatedly got over the gain line and there is only ever one outcome as a result.
We all have the ability to play a much better standard than today, as we showed in patches, and build on the positives but also learn from our mistakes .
Final score 5-36
Tries -Joe Morrow .
Man of the match- Jeross, for excellent workrate.
BBOB v Stewart & Lloyds 18/1/09
BB's managed to get 09 off to a winning start against a spirited S&L with some excellent play from both forwards and backs, well controlled by Smithy and some strong running from Drew,Aiden and Jak P .
Well done to Nick for scoring his first club try, and along with Alex for being good sports by turning out for the opposition.
Final score 50-0
Tries:- Joe, Nick, Aiden, Smithy, Jak P, Drew (3).
Cons:- Smithy (5).
Man of the match :- Joe Morrow, for good leadership.
BB V LOUGHBOROUGH
BB could not shake off the doldrums from last week and gave an unconvincing performance against a strong side from Loughborough. Once again too many defenders were sucked in allowing Loughborough's players to run round us. We will look forward to the New Year when we should hopefully be able to regain the form that we have shown at many fixtures throughout the first half of the season.
Man of the match Jeross Campbell.
Final score 31-0
BBOB v Towcester 14/12/08
BB could not find the same form as last week, and turned out a dissapointing performance against a well drilled Tow's side. Our defensive organization worked well in patches but it needs to be a lot more consistant to prevent the opposition having the time and space to attack,on many occasions our defenders were drawn in allowing Tow's men an overlap and only desperate tackling prevented a higher score.BB also conceeded far too many turnovers as we failed to retain the ball once taken into contact , rucking ( usually one of our strengths ) was not able to produce the ball we required and in many cases the ball had been "nicked" by the time forwards got to the breakdown .
To sum up there were some excellent individual performances , good scramble defence and a well worked try but I think we all feel that we are capable of playing a much better standard of rugby.
Final score 7-34
Try by Mitchell converted by Smithy
Man of the match Aiden (THE CUBE) Power
BBOB v Old Scouts 7/12/08
Both teams started well in a very even first 20 minutes as they tried to weigh each other up! BB were the first to score with an excellent breakaway try by Drew. Scouts piled on the pressure but BB's defence held , and in the end to end action the unstoppable Jak P crashed over for our second try. Scouts once again threw everthing at us and this time they were rewarded as they drove over, going into the break 14-5.
The second half however was all BB's as we ran in six unanswered tries with a suburb display of offloading and support play combined with a good set piece and a near perfect kicking performance from Smithy [ 7 kicks from 8].
All in all a complete" team" performance and another step towards the style of rugby we wish to achieve. Well done you can all be very proud of yourselves.Picking a man of the match is getting more difficult as everyone is giving 100 % to the team .
Tries - Drew (3), Jak P (2), Joe (2), Mitchell .
Cons Smithy (7).
Man of the match - Pete, good breaks around the scrum and ball distributation .
P.S. Get well soon Jake H . Hope your shoulder is'nt too painfull.
BBOB V DAVENTRY 30/11/2008
A good all round team performance with everybody becoming involved in a free flowing game. A big thankyou to the guys for taking on board the pre match briefing and sticking to the game plan. This is another positive step forward to the style of rugby we want to be playing. Thanks to Perry, Sam, Chris, Kane and Drew for turning out for the opposition and doing their best for them. Very difficult to choose a man of the match as so many people put in good performances, including Joe and Matt J for their tackle rate, and Smithy again for running the game from the number ten spot.
Man of the match Alex for sheer determination and playing out of position.
Tries by Joe(3),Dan, Drew, Kane, Matt J, Pete, Smithy.
Coversions Smithy (5)
BBOB v Oadby Wyggestonians 23/11/08
For the second time this season BB produced an excellent and entertaining game of rugby, only to end up on the loosing side. An exemplary team performance with everyone getting involved in the "end to end" action, in a game that could have gone either way . BB's will rue the missed opertunities to score in the second half , when we had lots of possesion and territory, but failed to turn pressure into points .
Final score 10-7.
Tries- Drew .
Conversion - Smithy
Man of the match - Smithy , good decision making and running the game from 10.
BBOB v Stewart & Lloyds. 16/10/08
BB were never under any pressure by S&L's new development side. Out experience showed right from the opening minutes. All credit to S&L's for not giving up and playing good rugby. It gave us the opportunity to move our team around and give players chances in different positions. We still however failed to play any structured phase rugby which was dissappointing.
Tries by Matt F(2), Gaz(5), George, Aidan,Matt J,Jak P and Drew
Conversions Smithy(9)
Man of the match- Kane Hillery for great committment and work rate.
Final score 83-0
BBOB v O N's 9/11/08.
Parents and supporters witnessed a thoroughly entertaining and hotly contested game of rugby. Despite the final score, the game could have gone either way at any given point. I was impressed with the performance of the whole team both in attack and defence, and if we can eliminate small errors then our sucess rate will improve. We played with the same structure and determination for the whole of this match as we did in the second half against Vipers last week. There were very many positives in this game and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
Final score 5-14
Try by J Morrow
Man of the match Sam Barford for a super work rate. Well done Sam
BBOB v Leicester Vipers 2/11/08
BB's were given a wake up call by our opposition on sunday as Vipers overran us in the first half scoring five unanswered tries and two conversions. Our inability to put Vipers threequaters under any pressure, coupled with some fairly poor tackling , allowed them the time and space to put their side out of sight .
In the second half BB's managed to get back into the game and looked like their usual selves with a gritty display , our heads went up after Jak Panter shrugged off several defenders to run from his 22 for BB's only score .
Had we played the first half with the same determination and urgency as the second, we might have given a better account of ourselves. So everybody should take credit for not letting our heads go down ,showing a good competitive spirit and pride in their shirt .
Final score 34-5.
Tries Jak Panter.
Man of the match - Jak Panter , outstanding in both attack and defence.
BBOB v Bugbrooke 26/10/08
BB's were almost unrecognizable from last week, with some excellent play from both forwards and backs .
Dispite opening the scoring BB's had to defend for quite some time after Bugrooke drew level and threatened to get ahead , however BB's worked very hard in defence with some fierce tackling.
All in all this was the best "team" performance of the season so far with everybody supporting each other, and if we can keep up this standard of play we will achieve our seasons target .As seems to be the norm, a big thanks to everybody playing out of position.
Tries by Garteth(4) , Aidan and Jack Panter. Conversions by Gareth 4.
Final score 38-10
Man of the match Matt Finta for taking charge at number 10, a position he has not played at before even in training. Well done Matt
BBOB v Olney 19/10/08
BBOB 5 -34 Olney
A dissapointing performance from BB's allowed Olney a comfortable victory over us . Dispite putting in lots of effort and some good individual skills ,as a team our failure to organize ourselves in defence and not getting sufficient numbers to the breakdown quickly, forced BB's to defend for long periods of the game .
Well done to Jack and Gaz on their first match with the club and for playing in different positions than usual .
Also get well soon Luke,as he has unfortunately broken his ribs after a last ditch tackle . Hope you're not too sore !
Tries :- J Ralph .
Man of the match :- G Elliott for his good line breaks and decision making .
BBOB V DAVENTRY 5/10/08
BBOB 46 -7 Daventry
Dispite the terrible weather, both sides tried to play as much free flowing rugby as was possible, with lots of great offloading in the tackle and good support running BB's got off to a flying start and never looked back .
Well done once again to all the players who shifted positions so that we could try out different combinations .
Tries ;- Perry , Aaron , Dan , Joe , Matt J , Aiden [ 3 ] .
Con ;- J Hood [3] .
Man of the match ,Martin Pursglove for his work at rucks and mauls .
BBOB v LEICESTER LIONS
BBOB 43 LIONS 12
BBOB got their season off to a flying start with a well deserved victory against Leicester Lions. We played with more structure and organisation than last season and it was great to see players taking responsibility for themselves and their team mates both in defence and attack. Lions gave us a good challenge in the first half scoring two tries to our three, but the second half was all ours as we ran in four unanswered tries.
Tries by Joseph, Morrow(2), Finta, Ralph, Power,Knight. Conversions by Hood(3)
Man of the match Sam Barford.
Well done to Smithy and Pete for playing out of position and doing an excellent job of it!
Also great to see Nick, out of plaster, supporting his team and doing an excellent job with the water bottles.
